This spiders Latin name venusta means beautiful, it has bright green, white, and yellow markings.

Identification

Males are somewhat smaller at 3.5-4 mm than females , which may reach lengths of 5-8mm.

Environment

Tend to live in low bushes and damp woodlands. They usually build their small webs in low vegetation, and sometimes in small trees.

Life Cycle

Like all spiders, Orchard spiders hatch from eggs and look like tiny adults. They shed their skin as they grow. Most spiders in this family live for less than one year, typically mating and lay eggs at the end of the summer. Spiderlings hatch during the following spring.

Health Risks

The Orchard spider rarely bites and is not considered dangerous except to people with a severe allergy.
